Xander!
Hello world,
It is my pleasure to introduce you to Xander!
When I began to write about Xander, I started off with my normal list of things that make him so unique and wonderful. And it was a long list of qualities and stories that only touched upon how great Xander is. But I want to make sure that if God intends for Xander's family to find him through this blog entry, that they know exactly who their son is and know that they can handle the amount of joy, patience, love, and care that Xander needs.

Xander has autism and is also nonverbal, which makes it difficult for him to express his wants and needs to others. He can become overwhelmed when he is overstimulated. Xander has melt downs when he feels overwhelmed, and it can be tough because there's not much you can do for him other than be there to comfort him until it passes. Not being able to communicate with others also frustrates Xander. Sometimes he lashes out and smacks or spits on you when he becomes increasingly frustrated with the lack of communication.
Things may be difficult for Xander now, but he is working hard to improve his life. The therapy team at Xander's foster home is working hard to improve Xander's communication abilities through speech therapy, and I even had the opportunity to teach Xander a bit of American Sign Language during my time at his foster home. Xander worked hard to soak in as much as possible! He quickly learned the colors and could identify them for me when I asked him the different colors of toys and furniture around his house. He especially loved learning the signs for foods and how to ask for more snacks! Since then the therapy team has continued to work on speech therapy with Xander and I have been told that he is continually making improvements, and his out bursts (especially ones where he smacks or spits) have decreased. The therapy team has also been working hard to create a stable and constant routine for Xander so he knows what to expect on a day to day basis and helps prevent him feeling overwhelmed by a lack of routine.

Xander loves his nannies. He enjoys helping them around the house and run errands around the foster home. And his nannies give him lots of love as well! They are always quick to greet him with a warm hug, comfort him when he becomes upset, and they work hard to help Xander learn right from wrong. Despite the love Xander and his nannies have for one another, they are not a permanent fixture in his life. Many of them have been with Xander since he came to his foster home as an infant, but they may move, find a new job, or retire. Xander also has many foster siblings that love him and are there to help Xander when they can. But just like his nannies, Xander's foster siblings are always coming in and out of his life. Many find their own forever families, leaving Xander still waiting for his own. Xander needs a stable family environment for him to continue growing and improving his quality of life.
Xander needs a forever family that is ready to give incredible love and to receive immense joy and love. He only has a few years left to find his forever family, so it is urgent that we pray and advocate that his family finds him so that he can have the opportunity to flourish with his family's love and support.
