Amanda!!
Hello world,
Now before I tell you about an amazing young girl named Amanda, I have to tell you that while every blog post I write for the orphaned children of China brings me great joy, I am extremely excited to even have the opportunity to write this post and for Caroline's post about a girl named Vicki. That is because not too long ago, everyone believed that Amanda had already turned 14 years old, meaning that she was too old to be adopted. But, thanks to a bone density test and many prayer warriors asking for God to help this special young girl by giving her more time to find a forever family, it has been confirmed that Amanda is only 11 and a half years old, giving her another 2 years to find her forever family!

So world, it is my greatest pleasure to introduce you to Amanda!
Amanda is sweet: though the word "sweet" feels like an understatement when talking about Amanda's personality. Amanda is a beautiful young girl with an equally beautiful soul. She is soft spoken but loves to laugh as much as she can. You can always find her helping her nannies walk home her younger foster siblings to and from school during the week, and makes sure that everyone comes home after playing outside at night or on weekends. It is rare to find her in a bad mood, and her beautiful smile can brighten anyone's day!
Amanda is bright: She is always eager to learn as much as she can during the school day. She was one of the most active participants during my English and American Sign Languages classes. Everyday after her school day was over she would ask me to go over writing English words or how to form a sign correctly. Amanda also loves arts and crafts, she is always making fun little items like dumplings out of clay or three dimensional hearts out of paper to give to her friends and teachers.
Amanda is tough: Amanda suffers from Blue Rubber Bleb Nevus (BRBN). It is an extremely rare condition and is "characterized by numerous malformations of the venous system that significantly involve the skin and visceral organs." In other words, Amanda has many blue tumors in through out her body. She also has a clubbed foot on her left side. However, since I have met Amanda I have never once seen her let her conditions hold her back. She has never complained to me about her situation, and takes on the day with a smile on her face. It is a rare quality to find a young child with that much bravery. Amanda still runs around with the other children, she braids hair and does her nails with the other girls in her home, and she does whatever else she needs or wants to do without using her medical conditions as an excuse to not try.
Amanda is a girly-girl: She loves nothing more than having the opportunity to braid hair, and she does not care who's hair it is! I've personally had my hair styled many times by Amanda, and she certainly has the potential to be an amazing hair stylist someday! (She also has been known to braid breads as well, see the picture below!) Amanda also loves to dress up nicely when she is going to school, and loves any opportunity to paint her nails or make jewelry!

Amanda now has an extra three years to find her forever family, however, that does not mean that any second should be wasted in trying to find them as soon as possible. Amanda needs a family. A family who will love her as much as I know she will love them. I know God has amazing plans in store for this wonderful young girl, and any family would be more than blessed to have her in their lives.
